Our People and Structure

The Firm is led by the three partners (Mr. Michael Thrassou, Dr. Alkis Thrassou and Mr. Akis Karamichalis) and is managed by Mr. Harris Thrassou. The firm comprises approximately thirty full-time internally occupied professionals and supporting staff, but additionally utilises the expertise of part-time staff and permanent external associates, depending on the needs of individual projects. This bestows the flexibility, quality and specialisation necessary for larger projects, at a lower cost to the Client.

Structurally, the Firm is divided into three departments: the Architectural Department, the Engineering Department and Business Management & Administration. The coexistence of these separate specialisations under the same roof, allows for intra-Firm consultations, a broader knowledge basis, the ability to understake more comprehensive consulting roles for the same Project and of course, greater experience. Additionally, higher ranked professionals from the different departments offer Project Mangement services, either in parallel to architectural/engineering services or as a separate role altogether.

For each large project, a ‘Project Leading Team’ is being formed, which is assembled based on the proficiencies, competences and experiences of the individual members, in relation to the specific Project’s demands. The team is compiled to ensure that each member has to offer some special value to the Project; and also to guarantee the best possible collaboration with the Client, as well as other consultants and contractors.

Our People & Management

The Thrassou Bros staff consists of Architects, Engineers, Project Managers, Designers and other professional, technical and administrative personnel. The varying nature of projects undertaken constantly enables everyone involved to acquire a broad knowledge-base and experience, which contributes to their continuous professional development and the sound expansion of the firm's expertise. Continuous training of all employees ensures that the company is up to date with technological and other advancements in the field and at the forefront of their implementation.

In parallel, the implementation by the company of its own quality management system provides a well-structured framework to support all internal operations and procedures, while the specially designed premises and latest-technology hardware & software used provide professionals with the physical means to achieve the required speed and quality.

Managing Director: Mr. Harris Thrassou is one of the most knowledgeable professionals in the field, with over forty years of of local and international experience in architectural and engineering consulting in numerous projects of many types and sizes. Mr H.Thrassou has served as Minister of Transport, Communication and Works, as the Vice-President of the Technical Chamber of Cyprus, as the President of the Cyprus Association of Architects and Civil Engineers, as the President of the Cyprus Town Planning Council and through many other posts and positions.  He is currently also the Chairman of the Electricity Authority of Cyprus’ Board of Directors

Partner: Dr Alkis Thrassou is a Ph.D. and a B.Eng. in Construction Management (University of Leeds, UK); an Associate Professor at the University of Nicosia, with several internationally ranked scientific publications; a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Building (UK,); a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK, construction services specialisation); a Research Fellow of the Euro-Mediterranean Research Business Institute; and a member to many other local and international professional and research organisations.With sixteen years of industry experience, he has been significantly involved in many large-scale construction projects. Dr. A. Thrassou is familiar with international professional processes and approaches. He liaises with clients and other key parties, ensuring the provision of the right service to the Client, and the seamless and harmonious collaboration with other consultants and contractors. He transcribes the project’s business demands into architectural/engineering processes and instructions, and monitors internal TBA processes for service quality and conformity to Client aims.

Partner: Akis Karamichalis is a civil and structural engineer. He obtained his Bachelors and Masters from the City University of New York, where he has also worked as a structural designer engineer on multi-storey building projects. Mr Karamichalis has twenty-five years of rich experience in design and project management, often in collaboration with foreign consultants and/or Clients. He has led the engineering design teams of numerous building and civil engineering projects and he has coped successfully with many especially challenging projects. He is also the Firm’s chief-engineer, currying all related duties and responsibilities.

Partner: Michael Thrassou is an architect with near fourty years of experience in the industry. He has led many architectural teams over the years, towards the design and supervision of several significant projects and he mostly undertakes the responsibilities relating to a senior architect. Mr M. Thrassou’s achievements have been recognised by the Chartered Institute of Building (UK), which granted him the titles of ‘Chartered Member’ and ‘Fellow’. He is also the Firm’s chief-architect, currying all related duties and responsibilities.
